The Science Geek is now Explaining Science

When I started my Science Geek blog back in April 2014, I never expected it still to be up and running five years later.  Over these five years its popularity has gradually increased, and I now have around 2,300 followers.

However, after five years of blogging I feel now that it is time for a change. So, I have decided to relaunch my blog, give it a new name, and move it across to a new domain. From now on the Science Geek blog  will be called ‘Explaining Science’ and move across to www.explainingscience.org

In Explaining Science, I will write all posts under my real name rather than the pseudonym ‘The Science Geek’.

What will the content of Explaining Science be like?

I intend that the content of Explaining Science will be roughly the same as the Science Geek. It will primarily consist of articles on astronomy, space and space travel – written at a level which is easily accessible to the non-scientist but without being dumbed down. This is often a difficult balance to achieve, but I hope I manage it most of the time.

What about The Science Geek?

For the time being I will continue to own the domain www.thesciencegeek.org. This has been set up to automatically map to the new domain http://www.explainingscience.org. So, anyone entering a URL of a Science Geek post e.g.

https://thesciencegeek.org/2018/05/25/the-anthropic-principle/  will be redirected to the equivalent Explaining Science URL e.g.

https://explainingscience.org/2018/05/25/the-anthropic-principle/  to view the post

Finally, Iwould like to say a big thank you to all my readers and followers of the Science Geek and hope that you enjoy reading Explaining Science just as much over the forthcoming years.

  1. Good luck Steve – it’s a great blog and no doubt, the new, re-launched version will be ace too! Excellent explanations of science and astronomy; I hope schools are taking note….

  2. I think ye be fantastic at “– written at a level which is easily accessible to the non-scientist but without being dumbed down. This is often a difficult balance to achieve, but I hope I manage it most of the time.” Physics and I are not (and never have been) friends. But I love space news. I feel that yer posts come closest to making me feel that I almost understand the concepts. At least in that moment anyway. So hooray for the new domain. Arrrr!
