Update 30 August 2025
I have extensively expanded and rewritten all three “A Short Guide to…” e-books.
I will make these books available on Kindle for a competitive price. However, in future I won’t do any deals where I offer free or discounted prices on these books for a limited time period. I believe the books offer good value for money at their current prices and it just isn’t fair for my readers who have bought them to offer them at a lower price over the Christmas period
All the links given in the post will point to the new versions of these books.

The Moon
Most people know a selection of random facts about the Moon and the history of lunar exploration, but in this book I try to remind general readers of all they have forgotten from their school days, fill in the gaps, and discuss the exciting times ahead, with America’s ambitious Artemis programme planning a return to the Moon in 2026 and China and India not far behind.

Short Guide to SETI
Is there anyone out there? The question of whether or not alien intelligent life exists elsewhere in the Universe has fascinated mankind for hundreds of years. Until relatively recently, this was merely the stuff of science fiction, but since the middle of the twentieth century astronomers have been able to seriously investigate the possibility of there being other civilisations out there, civilisations with whom we could make contact, instead of just speculating. SETI, the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence, is a branch of astronomy actively engaged with detecting signs that we are not alone. This book tells the story of this search.

Short Guide to Venus and How to Terraform it
The planet Venus is our nearest neighbour, the planet closest to the Earth in size and internal composition, and the brightest natural object in the sky after the Sun and the Moon. Often called Earth’s sister planet, Venus is a mysterious object whose secrets were not unlocked until the 1960’s.
