Most people know a selection of random facts about the Moon and the history of lunar exploration, but in this book I try to remind  general readers of all they have forgotten from their school days, fill in the gaps, and discuss the exciting times ahead, with America’s ambitious Artemis programme planning a return to the Moon in 2027 and China and India not far behind.

Is there anyone out there?  The question of whether or not alien intelligent life exists elsewhere in the Universe has fascinated mankind for hundreds of years. Until relatively recently, this was merely the stuff of science fiction, but since the middle of the twentieth century astronomers have been able to seriously investigate the possibility of there being other civilisations out there, civilisations with whom we could make contact, instead of just speculating.  SETI, the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence, is a branch of astronomy actively engaged with detecting signs that we are not alone.  This book tells the story of this search.
