Welcome to my blog, YouTube channel and Facebook page!
Explaining Science Blog
I started my blog back in April 2014. My content has had over one million views and is considered by the aggregator site feedspot.com to be one of the top astronomy blogs on the internet and has been mentioned on the BBC news website. To have a look at my latest posts click the link below
Explaining Science Latest posts
Most articles are on the topics of astronomy, space and space travel – written at a level which is easily accessible to the non-scientist but without being dumbed down. But there are plenty of articles on many other scientific topics. Here are just a few!
The switch to zero emission vehicles Time and time zones The Calendar Global warming Solar energy The origin of the word Eureka!
There are also posts from the abstract world of pure math
And unlike many quality educational blogs, my blog is entirely free of ads!
YouTube Channel
There is a clear demand for good quality but easily understandable astronomy videos (and indeed not just astronomy but good science videos in general!). Although there are many excellent ones out there, there are also many bad ones which give misleading and incorrect information. Many of these poor videos are professionally made, look very slick and have a large number of views.
In 2020 I created the Explaining Science YouTube channel. I have organised it into playlists and the Popular Astronomy one will be of particular interest to those of you without a scientific background. If you would like to view something a little more challenging try General Astronomy or Physics .
So visit the channel, take a look at some of the videos, and let me know what you think!
All videos on my channel have a Creative Commons license which allows anybody to share, remix, and build upon any of my content for FREE.
